Hey GILL Friend Card (Fairy Tale Challenge #161)

Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge at Fairy Tale Challenge Blog.

Our theme for this fortnight is #161, Karten mit Humor / Cards with humor/fun. Funny images and sentiments, smiles, Smileys.... Anything you find humorous/funny/comic. :o)

This time our lucky winner will win this lovely stamp. :o)

And here is my take on this week's theme: Hey GILL Friend Card. :o)

For my card I used an adorable Paper Smooches 'Surf and Turf' stamp set. I have this set for a while and never used it before. Hmmmm.... I love tinny and funny images, wordplay and humorous sentiments. The set has that all, so it was finally time to open it and play with it. :o)

gill (English) - die Kieme (German) - škrga (Croatian)

"Gill... an organ (as of a fish) for taking oxygen from water.'
I stamped a fish on a watercolor paper panel and heat embossed bubbles in clear. I masked the fish and blended the panel with Distress Inks. I splattered the panel with water and Distress Ink Faded Jeans. I dried the panel with Heat It Tool.

After drying, I removed the mask, colored the fish in watercolor technique using Distress Inks and glued the panel on a white top folded card base.

Next up was a sentiment. I heat embossed in white the sentiment from the set on a black cardstock paper, cut it to preferable size, glued foam stripe on the back of it and glued it on the card.

At this point I didn't like "clear" bubbles at all. They were too pale, so I traced them with white gel pen. As a finishing touch I coated the fish and bubbles with Wink of Stella. Look how it shines!

Year of the Rooster Card (Kitty Bee Designs Spotlight)

    http://kittybeedesigns.blogspot.com/

    Hi everyone! :o)

Today is my turn to be on the spotlight over at Kitty Bee Designs, my first spotlight this year, and I made this CAS (clean and simple), Year of the Rooster Card.

Two days ago, on January 28th, new Lunar year begun, Year of the Rooster, so it was not hard to decide which image to use and what theme to go with on this card. :o)

For my card layout I followed a current challenge sketch CTS#206 from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Image is paper pieced. I used two images for paper piecing.
I printed the Rooster on a white cardstock paper scrap, colored him with black marker and fussy cut him out, leaving white border around him.
Then I printed one more Rooster on a watercolor paper and colored him in watercolor technique using Distress Inks. After drying, I shaded red colored parts with red colored pencil, fussy cut the Rooster, traced edges with black marker and softened him using stylus ball.
I glued colored Rooster over "the black one", drew white highlights with white pen and the Rooster was finished.
This is super easy paper piecing. It gives a bit of an extra dimension to images. :o)

Next up was working on the sketch layout...
I masked a bottom part of a top folded white card base with a washi tape and blended it with Distress Inks. I started with Abandoned Coral, but it was "not enough red" so I blended over it with Barn Door. Better!! :o)
I splattered the blended part with water, dried it and repeated the whole process (blending, splattering) three times, until I was satisfied with a pattern. Lastly, I splattered the blended part with Distress Ink Barn Door mixed with a bit of water, dried it, removed the washi tape and trimmed the card a bit.

For a sentiment I used two different fonts.
Word 'happy' is from a Create a Smile 'Make a Wish' stamp set and I stamped it directly on a card base. I got the set in November 2016 and finally used it now.
I wrote second part of the sentiment, 'New Year', on my computer using Impact Label Font, printed it on the white cardstock paper scrap, cut it out, traced edges with black marker and got a lovely label, as if I had label maker. :o)

Lastly, I assembled all pieces together. I glued 3-D foam tape on the label and foam sheet scraps on the image and glued them on the card. Red enamel dots as a finishing touch and my card was finished. :o)

    Card dimensions: 95 mm x 127 mm (3 3/4" x 5")

Robot Birthday Card (LMMS Challenge #155)

    Hi everyone! :o)

It's time for a new challenge at Little Miss Muffet Stamps Challenge Blog. It's #155, Anything Goes Challenge.

For this challenge I made this CAS (clean and simple)Robot Birthday Card.

I made this card for my nephew Patrik, my cousins son, who celebrated his 9th birthday this week. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATRIK!!!

For my card I used a super cute C. C. Designs 'Rusty' rubber stamp available in LMMS shop here.

I stamped the robot on a thick white watercolor paper, colored him in watercolor technique using Distress Inks and fussy cut him out, leaving thin border around the robot. Then I glued the robot on a 2 mm thick foam sheet and fussy cut him out again.

Then I stamped a sentiment on a white top folded card base, for which I used Create a Smile 'Mini Birthday' stamp set.

drew a line frame with black fine liner to make my CAS card more interesting. To do so, I was inspired with robot's eyebrows and AMAZING work by Faye Wynn-Jones of Stampin Fluffnstuff. Be sure to visit her blog, her coloring skills and stunning CAS designs will blow you away. Thank you for the inspiration Faye!! :o)

Lastly, I glued the robot on the card, embellished the card with enamel arrow stickers and my card was finished. :o)

    Card dimensions: 139 mm x 89 mm (5 1/2" x 3 1/2")

    List of supplies:

    Aquarius Card

    Hello everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this watercolored, one layer, Aquarius Card.

I used an adorable Aquarius stamp from Mama Elephant 'Cosmic Stars' stamp set. I've used before this stamp set, but the Aquarius I used for the first time.

For a card base I used Canson XL Mixed Media Paper.

stamped the image directly on the card base and colored it with Distress Inks in watercolor technique. I also watercolored a background with Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch, my favorite Distress Ink color.

Then I stamped one more image on a scrap paper and fussy cut it out. I made a mask to cover and protect the image, as my next step was splattering the background. I splattered it with water, Distress Ink Blueprint Sketch and white acrylic paint.

After drying, I highlighted some white acrylic splatters with white gel pen and drew more white dots. As a finishing touch I added a Clear Wink of Stella on the Aquarius's outfit and amphora. I'm not a fan of glitter and shimmer, but I'm so glad I bought the Wink of  Stella! Look how lovely it shines!!! :o)

      deLIGHTful Birthday Card

      Hello everyone! :o)

Today I want to share with you this CAS (clean and simple), deLIGHTful Birthday Card.

To make this card I followed current NBUS challenge #8 by my crafty friend Darnell of djkardkreations.

Darnell is celebrating 5th birthaversary, 1000 subscribers, 1000th post... CONGRATULATIONS DARNELL!! :o)

Idea and main rule of the challenge is to use NBUS (never before used stuff).
Darnell added optional theme for this challenge this time: Use Colored Pencils on Kraft.
For more information about the challenge, jump over to Darnell's blog.

NBUS I used to make this card is a super fun Your Next Stamp 'Perfect Chemistry' stamp set. I got this stamp set in November 2016.:o)

I went with optional theme and used colored pencils on Kraft. I tried coloring with colored pencils on various Kraft papers before (see here). I like it and enjoy coloring with colored pencils, but my favorite coloring technique is watercolor technique. :o)

      How I made my card...

I stamped a light bulb from the set on a Crafter's Companion Neenah Desert Storm Kraft paper panel and colored it with colored pencils (white parts with white gel pen). I blended colors with paper stump (except white parts).

I stamped a sentiment from the set on the panel, glued black and design paper stripes on a white top folded card base, trimmed the panel and glued it on the card base and my card was finished.

      Dimensions of card: 101 mm x 133 mm (4" x 5 1/4")

      List of supplies:
      • Your Next Stamp 'Perfect Chemistry' stamp set
        • Crafter's Companion Neenah Desert Storm Kraft Coloring Card
        • white cardstock paper (card base)
